WORKSHOP ON SUPPORTING FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS- FEB 25, 2020

At DPS Greater Faridabad we believe that every child has a different learning style and pace, each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding. To turn this belief into reality we try to cater to the needs of our children and equip our teachers so that they can prepare the little Dipsites for the world.
To add on to the armour of the teacher fraternity a workshop on ‘Supporting families with children with disabilities and developmental orders’ was organised on 25th February, 2020.The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Parul Srivastav, Deputy Director, NIPCCD, New Delhi. The resource person, through various role plays and activities, apprised everyone about how to harness better parent school relationships for the optimum development of a child with special needs. Ms. Parul was impressed with the teachers’ perceptions and their eye for detail. She also praised their ways of dealing with the kids ordeals that they presented in their plays.
Ms. Srivastav emphasised on the importance of running an emotional curriculum. This shall result into happy and cheerful faces making our children feel good and help them perform to the best of their abilities.

The teachers attending the workshop understood the importance of customised remedy by approaching an expert rather than giving prescription based on their previous and personal experiences which may or may not work.


Anecdotal records may help the teacher to know a child well but forming an opinion based on that may sometimes prove fatal for the child’s progress, therefore, it was advised to talk about the child but not judge them on the basis of their previous performance.
During the workshop, the teachers affirmed that they should never try to fit the child in the previous teacher’s script, instead they must discover the child and add a pearl to the string of his attributes over the years.
The teachers after attending the workshop realised the significance of being more compassionate and adapting a collaborative approach with parents for better results.
