Webinar On Theatre Education Activities For School And Homeschooling- HRDC- June 25, 2021

Topic- Theatre Education Activities for School and Homeschooling

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” – Albert Einstein

To stimulate creativity, smart learning, critical thinking and logical reasoning in students, drama and arts play a pivotal role in the education process. And to throw light on the same, a webinar was organised by the Delhi Public School Society, HRDC on 25th June, 2021 at 10:00 am wherein teachers from various Delhi Public Schools participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The webinar commenced with the warm welcome by Ms.Vanita Sehgal ma’am, Executive Director, DPSS- HRDC followed by the introduction of very talented resource people for the day- Mr. Karthik Anantha Subramanian sir and Mr. Yugesh Ramchandran sir from Crea- Shakti School of Drama & Theatre in Education.

To begin with, they enlightened the participants with the benefits of theatre education and

some of the best possible ways to incorporate the same in our classes. They also emphasised that Theatre education has a positive impact on student’s development in many ways like language and communication, social skills, team work, problem solving etc.  It was followed by the funfilled warm up activity “A to Z Mind” which pulled everyone’s interest at once and kept it intact throughout the session.

As they were emphasising more and more on acting, expressions , voice modulation etc, keeping these things into context, they conducted various activities and made participants act during the session. The activities like Big-Bigger-Biggest, 4 corners, Mirror Image, Magic Mirror, Pirate Gameetc organised by them which were not only full of fun but they also carried huge scope of learning without posing any burden on students.

The most interesting part was how to create a story around any topic to be taught for any subject that too with different characters, mesmerising song, hilarious dialogues, open ended questions etc in order to break the monotony and to keep the students focussed throughout. Most of the participants got an opportunity to engage themselves in one or the other interesting activities during the session.

The resource people completed the session by taking the queries of the participants and by guiding them with such thoughtful yet innovative ways. They contributed tremendously by pouring so many great ideas on how to make our online classes interesting and engaging. They also laid emphasis on freedom of expression for every child in the class.

The amazing session was summed up very thoughtfully by Ms. Vanita ma’am with a vote of thanks. At the end of the session, I was fully charged up  and excited to incorporate all these wonderful ideas in my class and to see my students bloom confidently.

I would like to extend my gratitude to our Principal. Ms. Surjeet Khanna ma’am and Headmistress, Ms. Ritu Jain ma’am for giving me the opportunity to have a great learning experience through this webinar.
