It is rightly said that the Language is the only medium to express thoughts, share ideas and opinions, but for an effective communication one must be familiar with the correct pronunciation of the words. Therefore, to enhance the communication skills of an individual by using error-free pronunciation, The DPSS-HRDC organised a webinar on Enhancing Communication Skills on Friday, June 11, 2021from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm for the DPS English faculty members. Ms Josette Lesser was the resource person who has a First Class Honours Degree in Linguistics from University College London.She made the participants aware about 44 phonemes required for pronouncing the words correctly wherein she threw light on 24 Vowels, 12 Consonants & 8 Diphthongs as per IPA, England. Not only this, she emphasised on the Intonation or pitch pattern and Stress while speaking. It was indeed an enlightening session where teachers learnt a lot about the movement of different parts of speech while speaking. In the valedictory address, Ms Vanita Saigal, Executive Director, DPSS- HRDC, thanked the resource person for organizing such an enriching webinar and requested the participants to constantly improve upon their skills and competencies for their personal and professional growth.
