The field of sports is often viewed from a parochial prism of the world where people tend to identify it with stereotypical ideas, but gone are the days when sports were just considered as a hobby and seen from a conventional viewpoint. In fact, Physical education and Sports have been tremendously expanding the scope of career opportunities in this competitive world. In lieu of this, the students of Classes XIth and XIIth of Delhi Public School Greater Faridabad got the golden opportunity to attend an interactive and insightful webinar on “Career in Sports” organized by the renowned World Academy of Sports, UK for the very first time in India on the Zoom platform on 2nd September 2021. The webinar dealt with the questions of exploring and finding suitable courses for sports in the desired university/college after 10+2. The webinar also highlighted the arena of Sports Management as a career option which has gained much traction worldwide. Key speakers of the Webinar, Mr. Steven Potts, Ms. Sue Brown, and Mr. Nikhil Malhotra brought into focus the career options offered by one such university known as “Federation University”. Later, the theme of the discussion fluidly transitioned to the academic and intellectual support offered by the World Academy of Sports. The session also dealt with the queries of students regarding the filing of applications and the educational requirements needed for pursuing a selected career in Sports.
The webinar really helped the students to look beyond the preconceived mindsets and aided them to unravel the interrelated world of Sports and Management whilst getting to know an array of career opportunities offered by Sports and Physical Education.
