Friday Folk Time- Dec 08, 2023

“Preserving and promoting folk tales is akin to safeguarding the cultural DNA of a society, ensuring that the wisdom and values of our ancestors continue to guide and inspire generations to come.”

On December 8, 2023, the vibrant library of DPS, Greater Faridabad resonated with the enchanting echoes of cultural tales during the Friday Folk Time ,an initiative by Reader’s Den club. Two young narrators, Nimish Juneja and Arnav Jha from class VII D, took the audience on a captivating journey through the narrative.

The narrators captivated the audience with their rendition of “The Great Warrior,” a poignant folk tale from Africa. The story follows the journey of a rabbit who loses his home due to the actions of a caterpillar. However, aided by a wise frog, the rabbit manages to reclaim his home after the frog devises a solution to eliminate the caterpillar. The story imparts a valuable lesson: “Use your wisdom instead of your strength.” It emphasizes the importance of intelligence and wisdom over sheer physical strength, showcasing how the caterpillar triumphs through cleverness rather than might. The narration by Nimish and Arnav brilliantly conveyed the essence of the folk tale, leaving a lasting impact on the audience and reinforcing the timeless wisdom embedded within the story. The event unfolded as a celebration of storytelling and imparted valuable wisdom to all attendees, leaving a lasting impression on the minds and hearts of those present. The talented narrators were presented bookmarks as a token of love .
