Delhi Public school Faridabad believes in empowering their students to be thinkers, leaders and problem solvers and hence bring a social change. To foster this, our students were given an opportunity to participate in Education Technology Summit organized by Mahattattva Advisory from Feb 6-8, 2020 held at NIIT University Neemrana, Rajasthan. The event was attended by Krish Sachdeva and Arnav Jain of Class VIII A with their mentor teacher Ms Reshu Ganjoo. In this mega event, a number of schools, pan India participated and showcased their problem solving skills to bring a change in the society.
Day 1: The day started with welcome address by Prof. V.S. Rao, President NIIT University. Prof. Rao spoke with students at length about the skills that school students must possess in order to transit smoothly to the respective areas of interest in college and further to the corporate world. He emphasized entrepreneurship and start-up’s to promote ‘Make in India’. Post this session, the students had to choose a problem statement and collaborate with another school, brainstorm the root cause of problem, create slides/ model presenting the solution of the same. At the same time, teachers were enlightened by lecture on Educational Technology by Prof. Vijay Mandke, Ph.D. & M.Tech. from IIT, Kanpur; B.Tech IIT, Bombay, India in Electrical Engineering. Prof. Mandke discussed the strategies of value creation in classrooms and how we need to prepare the students to handle the demands of future. He emphasized on triggering curiosity and building on it through live projects.
The day ended with bonfire and cultural presentation by NIIT University students.
Day2: Day 2 started with fun filled Trekking with Air Commodore (Retd.) Kamal Singh, Advisor, NIIT University who apprised the battalion of students and teachers of Aravalli Hills. Everyone witnessed the mesmerizing sunrise and connected with nature. Next, the students headed to show case their problem statement with the prototype designed in Day 1. They set up a kiosk where the model (prototype) and solution for the same was displayed in front of a panel of leading industry and corporate heads. The experts gave them constructive feedback on how to build and scale their prototypes. The students also asked many queries from the panel and got insight on the use of technology in corporate sector vs technology at school and university level. The students got the participation certificates.
Overall, it was wonderful experience to discover the research driven approaches and how it can be effectively used to bring a change is our society.
